A look back at 2014.

It's that time again! Every year, I do a roundup of significant things that happened throughout the year. I highlight each month with memorable photos and quick snippets of what I can remember happening. 2014 was a big year for me, so I'm excited to share my little summary here. I chose this photo above, because I think it's pretty representative of my year: I did a lot of traveling and looked at where I was, where I was going, etc. I went to a lot of new places and moved, and my blog played a great part in documenting a lot of it.

If you're interested, check out ones from 2013 and 2012.

JANUARY
I was throttled back to New York after spending some time at home for the holidays, right into the middle of the polar vortex. Brrr. I did some questionable nail art, had wonderful times with friends, and went on some very pleasant dates.

FEBRUARY
Well. I didn't blog this month, but it was a roller coaster of a month. My sister came to visit for her birthday and I took her to an Arctic Monkeys concert. I had a ton of pizza, received my first adult V-Day gift ever (CAKE. I GOT CAKE!!!!), and had the heat go out in my apartment for a weekend. Let me tell you, it was freezing.

MARCH
Redesigned the blog a bit, worked a lot. We had a huge project going on at the company, so I spent some weekends going into the office and doing my thing. There were lots of late nights, getting to hang out with some of my co-workers, and trying one of the best almond croissants I've ever tasted. Also bought a teeny tiny ring that I wear everyday now.

APRIL
So much happened this month! April was my first stint at Lush, which was in itself kind of amazing. I also saw Colin Firth at a movie premiere, that sexy man. Ran my first 5K for pancreatic cancer research, had a special friend come visit me, saw spring bloom around Brooklyn, and tried Game of Thrones beer. Obviously, that's a major highlight.

MAY
Finally went to a baseball game in New York! Saw the Yankees and the Mets play, which was fun. How I've missed the diamond. Spent time with sweet friends and flew home for a little vacation. This included Disneyland, the Getty Villa, and copious amounts of Korean food.

JUNE
This was a special month for me, because we had our company summer party (which was so much fun!) on a boat, and I took advantage of what the city had to offer for the summer. While I didn't make it to Shakespeare in the Park, I did see a free concert in Prospect Park and spent most of my time walking around the city. I tried Smorgasburg for the first time and the ever-talked about ramen burger (which was just meh).

JULY
Can I say that July was my biggest month? I went to Chicago for the first time, which was absolutely amazing. I wish I had been able to stay longer to do more stuff, but that city completely won me over. Shortly afterwards, I moved back home to LA. It was bittersweet, but a move that I needed to make. Did a lot of things in New York those last few days, though.

AUGUST
We took a road trip up to Oregon to help my sister move in for law school. I went to a random Korean concert, and ended the month off with another road trip to Michigan to move my brother in for his second year at school, and some other personal things. This second trip was a blast! I had St. Louis barbecue and did lots of cool stuff along the way.

SEPTEMBER
I ate so much food this month, I couldn't breathe. I hung out with old friends, bonded over food, saw the rings of freaking Jupiter!! Bought some clothes to update my wardrobe. Mostly, this month I feasted.

OCTOBER
One of my most popular post to date on Dear Skim is the Halloween post I wrote this year. That's kind of exciting, because I put a lot of effort into it! Lots of hiking went on, and I gave more consideration to what I wanted to do with my blog. I failed at doing makeup tutorials, so it was back to the drawing board for me.

NOVEMBER
More hiking. Missed New York surprisingly more than I had been the past few months. We drove up to Oregon to spend Thanksgiving with my sister, which was so much fun.

DECEMBER
This has been such a crazy month for me. It was my birthday, which I spent eating burgers with Sorted Food. I spent time reflecting and having "me" time, but it was necessary (and much appreciated). More importantly, I got to see some sweet friends that I hadn't seen in a long time, and it was amazing.

Overall, this year has been great. I learned a lot, was able to experience a lot, and grew in ways that I wasn't able to before. I'm still going through the growing pains, trying to figure out what I want to do moving forward, but the journey to discovery is just as important as solving the puzzle. Right?

...right?

Here's to 2015. May it be an amazing year.

  8. I don't know if I would ever be able to move out of New York. I love it too much. Sure, LA is on my bucket list to live for a while but I don't know if I could do it for more than 3 years. New York would be calling to me. Also, you are super pretty and take wonderful photos!
